His new girlfriend is great in many ways, but she doesn't support his entrepreneurial spirit, seems overly persuaded by her parents and is cold to his kids. What gives?

I think he needs to talk to her openly since they can communicate and let her know that his children are a priority and he has a responsibility to them and to his business that he has invested so much of his money and himself into. If she really loves him then she will appreciate and respect these very important factors in his life that define part of who he is. Sounds like she may be a bit immature if her parents have a lot of influence over her like that. If she is older and hasn't been married then that may be the reason, she lets her parents know too much and lets them make decisions for her. Blending relationships is difficult at best but both, the girlfriend and the children need to have mutual respect toward each other and build a relationshio from there. His girlfriend may be great in many ways but it can sometime be those very things that attracted you to someone that eventually start to drive you crazy and ultimately end the relationship. He needs to get a definitive on how she really feels about his children and his business, and what kind of a control issue her parents might be. IF she loves him she will roll up her shirt sleeves and get into the relationship to make it work. A relationship is like a job you have to work at it everyday to make it work. He needs to know what her level of commitment is and how much she appreciates him. Good Luck!
